🔬 How it works: a synthetic α-MSH analogue that activates the melanocortin-4 receptor directly, bypassing the broken link in the satiety pathway; hunger falls and calorie intake drops. 📊 Evidence: BMI fell about 15–16% over 52 weeks in acquired hypothalamic obesity (phase 3, NEJM 2026); weight loss and reduced hyperphagia in the genetic forms and in Bardet-Biedl syndrome.
