🔬 How it works: a non-selective NSAID, and the lysine salt is what makes this form worth naming. Ketoprofen itself is poorly soluble and irritating to the gastric mucosa; bound to lysine it dissolves at once and is absorbed within minutes, which is why the granules act faster than a tablet of the same substance. The dose to compare is the base: 80 mg of the salt is 50 mg of ketoprofen. 📊 Evidence: in the Cochrane single-dose review ketoprofen 50 mg gave an NNT of 2.9 (95% CI 2.4-3.7) — and that average describes nobody. In dental pain it was 1.8, at the level of the strongest drug in the group; in other surgery 4.2. The difference is significant at P below 0.00006 and the review authors call the gap unusual. This is a drug whose figure depends on the kind of pain, not on the dose.
