🔬 What it is for: rapid repletion of iron stores when oral iron cannot do the job — intolerance of oral forms, malabsorption (coeliac disease, post-bariatric states, inflammatory bowel disease), ongoing blood loss, severe anaemia, or repletion before surgery. ⚖️ Why this form: up to 1000 mg can be given in a single infusion, and hypophosphataemia occurs less often than with ferric carboxymaltose.
⚠️ Prescription product for intravenous infusion after dilution. Requires a physician's assessment, a documented iron deficiency (ferritin, CRP, transferrin saturation) and administration where hypersensitivity reactions can be managed. Not a supplement and not a substitute for oral iron in ordinary deficiency.
