Privacy Policy
Safe — AI Antivirus for macOS
Effective: April 2026
Local-Only Processing
Safe processes all data entirely on your Mac. Clipboard contents, scan results, detection history, and system health data never leave your device by default. There are no cloud servers, no remote databases, and no way for us to access your information.
Clipboard Monitoring
Safe monitors your macOS clipboard (pasteboard) to detect malicious terminal commands. Clipboard contents are analyzed locally in real-time and are never transmitted externally. Only text content is analyzed — images, files, and other data types are ignored. You can disable clipboard monitoring at any time in Settings or the menu bar.
File Scanning
When you initiate a scan (manual or scheduled), Safe examines files on your Mac for suspicious indicators. File contents are analyzed locally. Safe checks LaunchAgent configurations, temporary directory executables, and browser profile directories. No file contents or hashes are sent to external servers.
Browser Extension Scanning
Safe reads browser extension manifest files from Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Arc, Brave, and Edge to identify suspicious permissions and wallet impersonators. Extension IDs are compared against a local database of known legitimate and malicious extensions. No browser data, cookies, or history are accessed.
Webhook Notifications (Opt-In)
If you enable webhook notifications in Advanced Settings, Safe will POST threat detection events as JSON to the URL you configure. This is the only feature that transmits data externally, and it is entirely opt-in. The webhook payload includes: event type, timestamp, truncated command (max 500 characters), risk score, severity, and matched patterns. No personal identifiers are included. You control the destination URL — we never see or store webhook data.
DNS Blocklist
Safe maintains a local blocklist of known malicious domains (C2 servers, stealer exfiltration endpoints, phishing sites). Domain lookups are performed locally against this list. No DNS queries are sent to external services for blocklist checks.
Anonymous Telemetry (Opt-In)
Safe includes an optional, disabled-by-default telemetry feature in Advanced Settings. If enabled, it shares only anonymized, aggregate statistics (e.g., number of threats blocked, scan count) to help improve detection. No personal data, commands, file paths, or identifiers are ever included. Telemetry can be disabled at any time.
Data Storage
Detection history and scan records are stored locally using SwiftData (Apple framework) in your Mac's Application Support directory. Quarantined files are moved to a local quarantine folder. All data can be deleted by removing the app or resetting settings in the Advanced tab.
No Analytics or Tracking
Safe contains no third-party analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or tracking tools. We do not use Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics, Sentry, or any similar services. Your usage patterns are never monitored or shared.
Purchases
Safe Pro is available as a one-time purchase through Apple StoreKit. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We do not collect or store any payment information.
Children
Safe is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes
We may update this policy if new features are added. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Since Safe processes data locally, changes are unlikely to affect your privacy.
